Official: Apple releases iOS 5

A year ago at WWDC 2010 the tech-giants Apple launched the game changing iPhone 4 which supported Facetime and possessed an a4 chip.iPhone version of iMovies and iBooks were also introduced.

Now a year later Apple is back at WWDC 2011 and back with a bang! With having already released a new Mac OS-the Mac OS Lion a few minutes ago(details here) Apple has now announced a new iOS i.e. the iOS 5.

Apple has started off by showing off their dominance in the Mobile Install Base.

At the last event Apple proudly announced that the app store had 65k apps specifically developed for the iPad. This number has now increased to 90k.

Apple has announced that the new iOS 5 will have over 1,500 new APIs which will help developers build amazing new apps!

The new iOS 5 has around 200 new features but around 10 of them are key features.Lets have a look at the key features.

1. A brand new notification system with a notification center-The notification center aggregates all the notifications. It's accessed by swiping down from the top.If you're playing a game, you get an animation up top that swivels down. To clear a notification, just tap on the little X to the right and it disappears.

2. Newsstand-When you purchase a magazine or a newspaper they're automatically downloaded and placed on the Newsstand. It's integrated with the home screen, looks like, well, a newspaper stand.New issues are now automatically downloaded in the background, available offline.

3. Twitter-Now you have twitter integration on all your iOS devices.It is integrated with the camera and photos,contacts,safari and maps apps.Also a single login gives access to all apps to use twitter instantly.

4. Safari
Safari now features a reading list which allows to read any article or column on any website or blog cleanly. By this we mean all the unwanted things disappear and only the article remains.This can be done using the reading list button near the address bar in the safari of the iOS devices.Apple also welcomes tabbed browsing in safari for iOS devices
