Paypal iPhone App Hits 1 Million Downloads
I don't personally have an iPhone, and I don't normally use Paypal to give people money. But ages ago it occurred to me that we'd eventually be able to exchange money electronically between individuals, simply by using two portable devices in proximity to each other, and some sort of authentication.
Sure enough, about three weeks ago Paypal released a new version of their Paypal app for iPhone that allowed exactly that, and Technorati reported on it at the time. Well, seems that we weren't the only folks on the planet that thought the app was pretty neat: according to a press release that hit the wire this morning, the app has already been downloaded over one million times.
And those of you with Android and Blackberry phones need not drool (at least forever), because according to cnet.com, Paypal has promised to release apps for both of those platforms as well - and they'll be able to do the bump too.
