Rumor: An iPhone Priced At $99 to $199 Could Launch In 2013
A new Apple iPhone that's priced between $99 to $199 could launch this year, according to a new Business Insider report.
Business Insider reports that the alleged lower-priced iPhone may carry reduced features like a lower quality screen, body casing and processor.
Meanwhile, a report from DigiTimes claims that a low-cost iPhone will come with a larger display, meeting the prevailing trend for the adoption of 5-inch displays for high-end models. That report went on further to say that the low-priced iPhone will also have a brand new exterior design.
That report also mentions that the current success in sales of the iPad Mini, may have served as an inspiration for Apple to roll-out an inexpensive iPhone.
Some rumors also suggests that if there's ever a less pricey iPhone in the horizon that it would be targeted towards the emerging global markets such as in China and India.
A lower-end iPhone could likely be launched very soon as Apple bids to regain the company's recent decline in market share in the highly competitive smartphone sector and also to be able to cater to budget-conscious consumers, according to some analysts.
