Rumor: RIM Releasing BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Upgrade February 21st
We had heard about the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 update coming in February, but had not been given an official date from Research In Motion. RIM had the PlayBook 2.0 on demo at CES in January 2012, and it was very well received. Since RIM had been marking down the price of the PlayBooks since November 2011, it's been given much more attention. Since then, we heard that RIM would in fact be launching the PlayBook 2.0 upgrade on February 17th, and as that date draws near, we still haven't gotten any word from RIM.
New reports are now coming out that we will see the upgrade for the PlayBook on Tuesday February 21st, which we should all take with a grain of salt. N4BB is making the claim as they have it on word from several of their unnamed sources that Feb. 21st will be the day RIM starts rolling the 2.0 upgrade. The update will include native email, calendar, contacts as well as the ability to load Android apps from BlackBerry App World (those that have been submitted and converted to BB file formatting). So keep your eyes on your red glowing corners of the 7inch tablet from Waterloo on Tuesday...you may have a nice surprise waiting for you!
