Scotland Yard Working With FBI Arrest Suspect of LulzSec
Picture As Seen on Daily Mail
An arrest was made of 19 year old Ryan Cleary was made by Scotland Yard and FBI. At first glance the young boy appeared to be the leader of LulzSec. Many news agencies reported it as a big "blow" to LulzSec. Truth be told he was only an associate of the group and had low level involvement with the group.
@LulzSec Tweeted this today in response to the arrest:
The LulzSec Twitter account provides a little more information on Ryan Cleary's involvement with their organization. Later Tweets went on to tell of the media's false portrayal of his role as leader and to also tell of the limited role that he played. @LulzSec details the role in this Tweet: "Ryan Cleary is not part of LulzSec; we house one of our many legitimate chatrooms on his IRC server, but that's it." One thing is clear and I think should be understood among the news agencies and blogs reporting on this matter. The best place for information is Lulz Security Website and also their Twitter account. All incidents of sites or organizations being compromised are Tweeted and posted on the website. They not only detail what they have done, but also do it in a timely manner that shows that they are legitimately behind the hackings. If for example another group, or person for that matter, was responsible for the event there would be backlash and the events details and timing would be off. To date the information provided on the Lulz Security Website and Twitter accounts corroborate with the actual events.
At most I think Ryan Cleary plays a small role in the organization. I think the only valid thing that he may have is information that would be located on his IRC servers where one of their chatrooms was located. The group, Lulz Security, is of high intelligence and working with a child that was so easily found and caught doesn't make sense. One thing is for sure, Lulz Security and the #AntiSec movement is going to be a real challenge and threat. The support is growing with which also grows capability and also the number of sites attacked. The group is motivated, intelligent, and have a mission that they intend on fulfilling at all costs, even imprisonment or getting caught.
