It looks like Scott Thompson would rather leave the company than face more heat for the fake computer science degree that he forgot to remove when he applied for the top position of Yahoo. In a report by Kara Swisher at AllthingsD, Scott's replacement will be Ross Levinsohn, who is currently Yahoo's global media head.

Yahoo said that Scott is leaving because of "personal reasons".

If you can remember earlier this month, Scott Thompson was caught in what is now known as "resume-gate" by claiming that he has a computer science degree but actually did not. Yahoo even confirmed this as an "inadvertent error”.

A settlement is also in process for activist investor Dan Loeb of ThirdPoint Capital, who was apparently the one who discovered the discrepancy in Scott's resume.

This can be a blessing in disguise, since Ross Levinsohn can actually help in turning Yahoo's fortune.
