Speech Controlled TV Comes to Life with Nuance Voice

Nuance Communications Inc., a technological provider of voice and language services for businesses and individuals, has announced the integration of its Dragon voice technology into the Samsung’s 2012 premium Smart TV series.
Through the Nuance’s voice control capabilities, Samsung will provide customers with more control over their home entertainment choices. Natural voice will enable customers to change the channel and access Samsung’s Smart Hub. Customers will be able to search on the web and connect with their family members and friends via Skype, through the use of voice-enabled technologies. They'll even be able to turn on the TV by simply saying “Hi TV, power on.”
“The power and simplicity of voice integration as part of a TV interface is clear the moment you sit back and speak to your TV,” said Michael Thompson, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Mobile. “Working together, Nuance and Samsung are demonstrating how voice truly transforms the digital living room experience.”
Other important features to facilitate the customers in their Smart TV experience are Gesture Control, which will enable them to control the TV features by swiping the hands, and a new type of remote control with “Smart Touch Control”.
Nuance has also announced the new voice feature for Coupons.com and the Grocery iQ Mobile App for iOS.
