The internet is a world of words and pictures.  Take that away and it’s a void.  We use it daily for news, art, entertainment, social networking and a search for answers.  Information in itself is of no value.  It is the origin or source of the information that makes it count for something.

Most published information on the internet is unsolicited.  In other words, nobody asked for it and nobody really knows where it came from.  It may be true, but it may also be manipulative, insidious, undermining or completely false.  Everything is tagged for keywords, not for truth or for value.

It is not being dramatic to say that today our mental and physical health is undermined and dulled by an overload of information.  We have become a multi-national society, who never has enough time.  We are losing the ability to categorize and evaluate information.  There is simply too much of it.  Till recently, our mental health was kept under a bushel.  It may as well still be there.  Mental health has become a playground to anyone who holds an opinion.  Today, voicing an opinion is in itself an acknowledgment of special knowledge. In contrast; our new age has cured Polio, Cholera and many other diseases.  We have replaced them with an obesity epidemic and new diseases like type2 diabetes and morbid obesity.  Today we can also take credit for the greatest ever increase in heart disease, colon and bowel cancer.  Are we better off?  It’s hard to say.  The next generation may know better.
