Why Google Doesn't Have to Worry About Facebook Putting it Out of Business - Page 3
Now in addition to the whole advertisement areas Google has a broad range of services that Facebook will not be able to match.
For starters, Google has, Google “Earth”, and unless Facebook get’s a satellite on space that beats Google’s, Facebook Earth is probably not going to happen. Additionally Google Street View, is beating most of the GPS companies. That’s a second market that Facebook is going to have a specially hard time breaking into.
Google also provides internet services, they sell electricity, make cell phones, and most importantly Google has the entire Android Market on their hands. This, with a number of other features can guarantee Google is going to be in the top for a good while.
The main and most prominent advantage that Facebook has over Google is the whole “social” advantage, most websites now have Facebook applications incorporated on “commenting” Facebook like buttons, and even facebook “activity” pages. But, let’s be realistic here, It's absurd to think that when people are looking for an immediate answer, they will be going to facebook’s “recent news” to find what they are looking for. When you need a plumber in Denton, TX Facebook is not going to have that information readily available.
Overall, When it comes to finding what you are looking for, Google has many more years of experience over Facebook, and facebook will have to change their entire website design to catch up to Google, or incorporate a new type of service onto their website. It doesn’t seem like this would be a problem for facebook since they change their appearance almost every week. But putting Google out of business is a farfetched idea neither one of them is going away for a very long while, read the article in Tech Crunch to understand why and were I'm coming from.
