It's a never ending battle among the tech community between which OS is better than the other. This battle may be the first time however, that the tech community is comparing what would normally be desktop/laptop operating systems with mobile operating systems. As Microsoft released Windows 8, touting it's capability to run on mobile tablet devices as well as normal computers, it makes us wonder just how good is this new Windows offering. It's in its early developer preview stages at the moment, which has its fair share of bugs. But rest assured Microsoft will try to polish it up before it's scheduled launch in Fall 2012.

In this video below, we look at the boot time and startup resources for Windows 8 Dev Preview installed on a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 with 1GB RAM and 1GHz processor, against OSX 10.6.6 installed on a MacBook Pro with a 2.4GHz dual-core processor and 2GB RAM. The thing to keep in mind is that Windows 8 is running on essentially half the machine hardware wise than OSX 10.6.6. By specs alone, OS X should beat out Win8 simply by the machine it's installed on.

*As a disclaimer for the haters, both machines are fresh installs, with only wifi configured to connect. Both machines are running from battery power only, there is no direct power connected to either machine.*

After viewing the video, let us know what you think in the comments below! Is Windows 8 dev preview better than OS X 10.6.6?
