Hauppauge HD PVR 2Recording games for reviews, clan strategy or walkthroughs has never been easier than with Hauppauge's latest product, the HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition.

The HD PVR 2 picks up where its predecessor left off by offering an expanded line up of video recording formats. With no delay pass through, you can enjoy your game while you record it in HD.

The HD PVR 2 has a simple-to-use record button so you can toggle the start of recording with a simple touch. The HD PVR 2 comes with all of cables you will need to connect to the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 so you can be up and running in a matter of minutes.

Setting up the HD PVR 2 is straightforward you simply select the cables for the gaming platform you will be recording from and then connect them to your console, television, and pc.

The HD PVR 2 comes with a driver and software CD which allows you to install quickly and offers ArcSoft ShowBiz so you can quickly edit your videos. They will be ready for their debut on Youtube or Vimeo in a matter of minutes.

I found it a bit annoying that I had to connect my laptop to the device versus it having internal storage and wifi connectivity for sharing but that likely won't bother those who want to refine their videos on their PC before uploading.

That being said I think the Hauppage HD PVR 2 is an excellent product for those who review games or create walkthroughs. The Hauppage PVR 2 is currently retailing for $169.99 so it will also be affordable for hobbyists.

 Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • HD Quality Video
  • Supports Multiple Platforms

Cons:
  • Does not internally store video and no direct upload capable
