Acer Launching Tegra 3 Quad-Core Android Tablet Soon
With the latest success of the ASUS Transformer Prime pre-orders in North America, it's no wonder other Android tablet manufacturers are going to start committing to more tablet releases in 2012, specifically using the NVIDIA Tegra 3 (Kal-El) quad-core processor. Acer is the next to confirm new tablets are headed our way in 2012 after a discussion between T3.com and Jim Wong, Acer's President.
When asked about whether rumors online about Acer releasing a quad-core tablet to compete against the ASUS Transformer Prime, Jim Wong confirmed they are accurate, and that the company does plan to keep releases 'aggressive'. Here's what Mr.Won also had to say;
"Acer was the first to follow Motorola with a Honeycomb tablet in 2011 after the launch of the XOOM and we intend to remain very aggressive on that front,You may have seen some leaked stories in the media relating to Acer launching a new quad-core tablet and I can confirm these stories are true."
Jim Wong neglected to let T3 in on any exact dates, but I'd say that 'agressive' releases means sooner rather than later to stay on top of the competition just as they did in 2011 with the Acer A500 Android tablet. I can't wait to see what's unveiled at CES 2012 in January.
