iPad Finally Has a Facebook App!
After weeks or maybe months of using the Facebook App for iPhones, Facebook finally released a native app for iPads. In the absence of a native iPad app, there have been a lot of 3rd party apps that will allow you to access your Facebook account on an iPad and mind you these 3rd party apps are not second rate apps.
The Facebook app for iPad is a 10.5 MB update. If you installed the Facebook app for iPhones on your iPad (just like I did,) it is also compatible for all iDevices, which means you can install it on iPhones, iPods and iPads on a single download.
The FB app is basically the app version of Facebook.com, with that familiar UI of your Feeds at the center, then the Groups, Pages, Feeds, Messages, Photos, Notes, Friends and Events that are accessible via the left bar, the Friendlist and chat window on the right side, along with that familiar Notification bar at the top.
The new Facebook app is touch optimized giving you easy access to popular Facebook features and services like Facebook Games, Messages, Feeds, Chat, Photos and Videos. You can also swipe the screen to display the hidden sidebars on the left or right side of the screen.
The Facebook app for iPad was reported to have been scrapped because Facebook appeared to be prioritizing the web (HTML5) app version code named “PROJECT SPARTAN” then there was news of an app engineer leaving Facebook.
For the 5 to 6 hours that I've been using the FB apps, it appears that Facebook designed the app with the user experience in mind, and if Google doesn't have a G+ app for iPads soon, I'm afraid G+ will be left for dead.
