The iPhone 5, expected to launch in 2012, has been called out in a new report by Digitimes. The report suggests that the next iPhone (iPhone 5) due out next year will have a 4G LTE radio built in to address the ever expanding 4G LTE coverage zones going up rapidly. Currently, there are 4G LTE devices launched by Samsung, HTC, Motorola and LG, all using Android OS. Nokia, Research In Motion and Sony Ericsson are also expected to join the 4G LTE standard in 2012 as well.

There are approximately 35 live LTE networks in operation worldwide, with many launching each week. We should see over 100 4G LTE networks in operation going into year 2013. The demand for 4G LTE devices from consumers for faster speeds with data would be the only reason Apple considers a 4G LTE device so they don't lose market share and dominance as the most popular smartphone on the market.
