In New York, Motorola has been holding an event to launch their latest smartphone running Android Gingerbread, the Motorola Droid RAZR. The Droid RAZR will be headed straight to Verizon in the US, where pre-ordering starts October 27th 2011, and should be shipping out early November 2011. The 'Motorola RAZR' will be the name of the same device when it crosses the border to the north and launches with Rogers Wireless "in time for the holidays" as stated in the Motorola Press Release information.

The Motorola Droid RAZR may not have a whole bunch of new specifications, but it does have a few features that you'll find intriguing. The device will be running Android Gingerbread 2.3.5, with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor under the hood, and a 4.3inch qHD Super AMOLED display. The rear camera will be 8 megapixels with 1080p video recording capability. A full 16GB of internal storage and 1GB RAM also rest within its machined stainless steel core.

The really cool stuff that sets the Droid RAZR apart from the rest is the fact that it now holds the title for the thinnest smartphone on the planet at 7.1mm thick! Throw in a scratch resistant Gorilla Glass screen and Motorola's Lapdock 100 and 500 compatibility, and you've got yourself a winning combination of specs and glory.

This should make for a hot sale item this year's end, at $299 with a two-year contract with Verizon. No pricing has been made available for Rogers yet.
