The iCade began as a hoax on the Internet a couple years ago. I can vaguely remember people buzzing about this new product, which brought back the arcade, 80’s revolution. Games such as Space Invaders, Pitfall, and many more dominated then 80’s during the time I was a smaller fart. Many people brushed it off and didn’t give it any more thought. However, ION had a light go off inside their head and today we have this cool product called the iCade. Some viewers and readers thought much like myself, after reading this the first time, there’s no way they can build such a device. I can proudly say that’s not the case at all. The iCade can be purchased today at www.thinkgeek.com for $99.

If you are interested in waking the revolutionary 80’s style, here’s the way to go. The iCade is a great product for any gamer who loves the old-school style games. I bought it just for decoration purposes but now every time my daughter sees it she wants to play it. It’s a good feeling to know the same games I played entertain my daughter and other young kids just as they did myself twenty years ago.

The iCade is an old school, 1980’ retro style type gaming device for the ipad. If you are a fan of the old games such is centipede, space invaders, and hundreds more this product is for you. The iCade works in conjunction with all iPads, through Bluetooth capability, which allows the user full control of games on the iPad. It gives the user the ability to play with a joystick and eight buttons instead of controls on the touch screen. The iCade works with only a select few games such as the Atari Greatest hits download from the Apple store free. Just as you would expect you must make in-app purchases to gain access to more games. The games can be purchased separately for packs of four games at $0.99 or you can purchase all 100 games for $9.99.

The iCade requires some minor assembly. Although, I was able to assemble it completely within about 15 min. after unboxing the device. I also was able to begin my gaming adventures within a couple minutes after assembling and connecting my iPad through Bluetooth.
The iCade makes a great gift idea for anyone who enjoys technology. I think other companies will create games for the iCade as more are purchased. If you would like to purchase your own iCade visit www.thinkgeek.com. Feel free to leave any comments below.
Thank you,
