RIM Slapped with Lawsuit After BlackBerry Service Outage

If the shareholders of Research In Motion have ever been nervous about their stock prices, this might make them shiver. Research In Motion is now the recipient of a class-action lawsuit due to the BlackBerry Service Outage a couple weeks ago. The BlackBerry service outage lasted 3 - 4 days for most throughout the world, and slow service was seen by many even after the outage was 'fixed'.
The lawsuit was filed by a number of BlackBerry users according to The Financial Post. Consumer Law Group filed the lawsuit in the Quebec Superior Court, citing the following;
"...on behalf of individuals who have BlackBerry smartphones and who pay for a monthly data plan but were unable to access their email, BlackBerry Messenger service (BBM), and/or Internet for the period of October 11 to 14, 2011... RIM’s failure to take action to either directly compensate BlackBerry users or to indirectly compensate BlackBerry users by arranging for wireless service providers to refunds their customers and to take full responsibility for these damages."
RIM has issued a public apology as well as offering users over $100 worth of free apps as compensation, which apparently isn't enough for this group of BlackBerry users being represented in the lawsuit.
