Samsung and Google Postpone Galaxy Nexus Launch

The mobile technology world sure seemed to be heating up this week after the October 4th unveiling of the Apple iPhone 4S, then leaked specs and images of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Ice Cream Sandwich, and finally the launch of the HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio Thursday. Sadly, the world was dealt another blow with the passing of one of the greatest innovators of our time, Steve Jobs. It's safe to say that anyone who keeps their pulse on the mobile industry has shared a mixture of feelings this week.
Samsung and Google are no different, and despite the ongoing battle between Samsung and Apple over patents, particularly ones running Google's Android OS, it would be made to appear that they are taking things this week a little heavy as well.
Samsung and Google have decided to postpone their anouncement of the Galaxy Nexus (Nexus Prime) device along with the launch of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to a later date. Here's the statement;
Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.
The statement released by both companies doesn't suggest that this has anything to do with the passing of Steve Jobs, or the leaks of images, specifications and video. It simply states that now is "just not the right time". I think this has to do with both, and it's the right decision. The device launch will speak for itself, likely to be by the end of October or beginning of November regardless, maybe when things and memories begin to cool. The geeky part of me is disappointed that I will have to wait longer, but the human side of me can handle it and understands whatever their motive.
Here's a look at the Samsung Galaxy Nexus caught on camera for those of us who need a little fix until they officially announce the device.
