Smartphones and Tablets Will Have USB 3.0 Ports in 2012
The speed of technology moves at such a rapid rate these days. When it comes to USB technology however, we haven't seen much advancement with data transfer rates as USB 2.0 ports still dominate in the computer market. It's rare to see a full set of USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports on a desktop or laptop computer, even today.
With regards to smartphones and tablets however, that is set to change and make a jump for the better in 2012. The USB Standards Organization announced Sunday that USB 3.0 SS ports would be making their way to smartphones and tablet devices this year, and most on the market by the end of 2012 would support the 3.0 standard. To keep space to a minimum, we'll likely find most devices with a MicroUSB 3.0 port. This will give smartphones and tablets with USB3.0 support up to 800Mbps speeds for transferring files. Desktop and laptop computers with USB 3.0 ports can hit data transfers up to 5Gbps. A side benefit to the USB 3.0 standard will also mean faster charging of the device as well.
