Sold Out of Apples

For about a year the world has speculated about what the new device from Apple (what was supposedly the iPhone 5) would unveil to be. So much hype from it being lost in a San Francisco bar, to pending charges of a person who violated Apple security to leaked pictures of Japanese made iPhone covers to a concept video that reached up to a million views. Then on a faithful Tuesday, the eve of the death of the founder Steve Jobs, Apple revealed its Apple iPhone 4S.
One could just hear the Price Is Right fail horns playing in every gadget hungry geek head. Nerds across the world threw their hands up in disgust. “Where is the new design?!” “Where is the bigger screen?!” “Where is our virtual projectable keyboard?!” Many Apple enthusiasts, including myself, were definitely left wanting more. And when we didn’t get it we were left to mourn the loss of Steve Jobs and the lack of a cooler iPhone.
But wait, there’s more. Just today Apple announced that they are currently out of the new and slightly improved iPhone 4s. That’s right, the so far biggest let down from Apple is now sold out. So, if you were planning on driving to the monochromatic vendor and trading your iPhone 4 for a better camera and HAL 9000 then you will be out of luck. AT&T reported that they received 200,000 pre-orders only in the first 12 hours it was available on their website.
Another factor of the sellout may be that Apple for the first time is licensing Sprint to sell the newest smart phone. Let’s face it. To all those people still on Sprint without any contact of an Apple product, the new iPhone 4s will seem like a new iPod to a 14 year old on Christmas morning in 2000. It is estimated that Apple made out with about half a million pre-orders of the newest model in one day. It is expected that Apple is to sell over 27 million devices in the coming quarter.
