Starbucks Canada App Updated for iOS 5, Now Has Mobile Payments
There's only one thing worse than having to wait in line at your local Starbucks in need of that ever so good caffeine fix...and that's having to wait to pay for it. At the Starbucks I frequent (near work), there's a high school about 2 blocks away. If my timing is off in the afternoon, I get there same time as the teens. These teens can't decide what to have, or how to spend their parent's hard earned money on the latest Pumpkin Latte. I know, I'm starting to sound old.
Enter the newly updated Starbucks Canada app for iOS 5 devices. On Tuesday November 8th 2011, the app updated to version 2.1 in the iTunes App Store. It now has support for iOS 5 devices, My Starbucks Rewards details if you're a member (and you should be, it's free), and Mobile Payments from your registered Starbucks card. The way Mobile Payments work in the app, is when you're ready to pay, they'll ring in the drink and scan the barcode on your iPhone within the Starbucks app. Once the scan clears, it will deduct the amount owing from your preloaded registered Starbucks card. Once the teens have this app on their iPhones (cause you know their parents bought them one if they go to Starbucks for lattes), you'll be skipping through the pay line and sipping your favorite beverage in no time.
These feature additions are proof that a good company will listen to it's customers requests. Good on you Starbucks!
