A New “Send” Link On Bing Maps!
Bing Maps now show a very new “send” link. Currently this features only in U.S., UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany and Italy, so wait for it!
So, what exactly is new?
You can now send a business listing to a mobile phone via SMS. Pretty good feature! Well, that’s not the only thing that’s new. Bing maps also as a “Share” link. So, now you can share a map on Facebook and Twitter too! Here’s how:
- Click on the “send” link.
- A page to “Send to your mobile phone” appears
- You can enter the number so that the contact info for that particular listing can be sent to your mobile phone
Don't worry, the number that you provide will be used only this one time, and only for this particular message.
Currently this feature is available for U.S., UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany and Italy.
There’s also a place where you can share the map on Facebook or Twitter. With this, I guess there are certainly some more social signals incorporated by search engines for local listings.
If you do have a local maps listing for your business, I would strongly recommend that you update your information and ensure that you have entered accurate contact details there. With searchers looking for your listing and being able to easily forward it either via a mobile phone or being able to share it with friends on Facebook or Twitter, it is crucial that you take advantage of this “new” Bing feature and optimize your local listing!
There aren’t too many details regarding this however, let us wait for some more news about how exactly all this will work. There also have been some talk about a “Get There” feature. This will allow users to edit the directions between two points on a map.
Well, again there is very little information regarding how this will work. So, until then, let’s wait and watch!
