LinkedIn iPad App Has a Privacy Hole
LinkedIn launched an App on iPad recently. How does it fare in experience as compared to browsing LinkedIn online?
LinkedIn has sadly managed to create a disconnected quality between both experiences - from a browser vs through the App. It is inconsistent in its feature set, usability and overall branding.
I want to bring attention to one of the best assets of LinkedIn - privacy options. Anybody who has even a little experience on the professional networking platform would know that in order to connect with other user, you need to justify the relationship status before doing so. This is admirable as it prevents unnecessary spam of invitations floating around. Professional users do not appreciate noise and would want to be in control of their privacy settings.
A mysterious bug has surfaced in their iPad version, where when you click on "Connect" with respect to any user you would want to invite, it simply sends across the invitation! It does not stop and ask you to choose the options on how you know the user. This cannot be on purpose; but it is a serious overlook on their part, which will guarantee to displease many users on the LinkedIn community. Interestingly, this completely echoes their violation policies, and hence has the risk of them closing down several accounts due to sending unsolicited invitations.
Let's hope they fix this soon enough before any chaos.
