Zirtu, which created a stir at DEMO by demonstrating a new Type 0 Hypervisor technology that disrupts traditional notions about desktop virtualization, announced the release of the Zirtu Desktop Virtualization Suite. It’s a breakthrough that makes laptops and computers truly interchangeable, delivering a fully personalized workspace – complete with user applications, settings and files – that runs natively from any end-point computer.

The new Zirtu Desktop Virtualization Suite eliminates the problems people associate with traditional approaches to desktop virtualization, including the poor performance and user experience issues that currently plague enterprise virtualization deployments and affect about half of all users. The Zirtu Desktop Virtualization Suite empowers knowledge workers with unprecedented performance capabilities and enables mobile workers to enjoy a seamless user experience – even without a reliable connection.

The Zirtu Desktop Virtualization Suite allows IT professionals to maintain security and manageability when employees use their own computers for work purposes. It also eliminates the need to purchase and manage server farms and drastically reduces licensing costs. It frees IT staff from end-point backup or disaster recovery tasks and makes burdensome processes like transferring staff to new hardware or operating systems and setting up new employees with fully functional workspaces a three-click operation that can usually be handled by the user.

Following the initial launch at DEMO and Type 0 Hypervisor implementations at Fortune 500 companies, the Zirtu team refined its unique technology to create the Zirtu Desktop Virtualization Suite. Its possible game-changing Type 0 Hypervisor technology doesn’t use the traditional VMs that power other desktop virtualization products, which use a full operating system on top of a host operating system or hypervisor; Zirtu runs a single operating system without a virtual hardware layer. This allows users to run applications natively for a seamless user experience. There is a demonstration video from last years DEMO here as well as at the end of this article.
