Social Media Hub – Google Analytics
Google has announced the inclusion of Social Media Hub, a way to measure social media performance in Google Analytics.
Social media Hub is not just an enhancement in reporting abilities of Google Analytics. It is an effort to place all the social media activities in one single tool and measure results.
This is an excellent way for marketers to check statistics from a variety of social media all at one place. You can take a look at the impact of social networks for your site, on one common platform – Google Analytics.
Google Analytics is a widely used tool for gathering statistics by most companies. You can easily understand the number of visitors to your website, the bounce rate, and much more. But for analyzing social media data, one had to go to the networking website itself like you go to your Facebook page and select insights to check the number of likes and shares and new visitors etc. With this new Social data Hub Google has tried to bridge this gap and place all the statistical data at one common place – ready for you to analyze the performance of your business’ online marketing strategies.
That’s a really good move, but this requires the social media websites to allow Google to integrate the activity streams. It is seen that the major social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are not (yet) sending such activity data to Google.
The social networking sites that are currently included in the social data hub are: Delicious, Digg, Diigo, Gigya, LiveFyre, ReadItLater, Vkontakte, Reddit, TypePad, Google+, Google Blogger, Google Groups.
As marketers, this inclusion is definitely a boon and we can now see all our analytics data at one place.
