Symform Improves Its Unique Crowd-Sourced Secure Data Backup Solution
If you are a small or medium sized business (SMB) owner, you may remember to do an occasional back-up to secure critical data, like customer records and accounting files. In fact, Symantec reported last week that 74 percent of SMBs indicated that data protection is a top technology concern, citing an increase in thefts of confidential and proprietary data as primary reason. Nearly half of them have first-hand experience with data loss at some point in their history, impacting revenue or increasing operating expenses.
With so much attention on protecting critical business intelligence,
technology resellers must provide a secure solution for their SMB customers, but many struggle with pricing to fit their customers’ budgets. “For the small business owner, when data protection is costly, it moves from being a ‘have to have’ to a ‘nice to have’,” says Symform VP of Sales and Marketing, Kevin Brown. “With our Symform Cooperative Storage Cloud we enable small businesses to implement a backup and disaster recovery solution that is more secure, ten times cheaper, and ten times faster than traditional online backup services.”
Using a military-grade, AES-256 encoding to protect data before it leaves the source computer, Symform distributes redundant fragments of the encrypted data to a storage cloud made up of networked member computers, which enables individual businesses to distribute their storage risk while simultaneously backing up their data.
Like the popular file sharing service, Bit Torrent, Symform uses the power of a collective of computers to secure and restore the data it manages. Companies must contribute space on its own CPUs for other members to utilize for data back up when it subscribes to the Symform service. The resulting computer network becomes a cooperative that reduces the service costs for all members.
