A Retrospective of Unanswered Lost Questions
So, Lost ended on Sunday night and I'm still sort of processing how I felt about the whole thing. I get that the producers were going for that whole character-driven thing, but if that was going to be the case, maybe they should have spent the last six seasons developing better characters?
But there were plenty of fans who were happy with the cloying, sentimental finale. The rest of us, on the other hand, would really like to have gotten some some answers! The folks at CollegeHumor put together this rapid-fire montage of some of the most nagging loose threads strewn throughout the series:
Some of these are pretty legitimate gripes, although, honestly, these aren't the sort of questions I'd get all fussy about. No, I would have perfectly happy leaving all of these loose ends untied if we had just gotten some small semblance of a Big Picture idea. Instead, the producers seemed more intent on wrapping up the Season 6 alternate reality set-up while ignoring the more interesting mysteries about the island and the Dharma Inititative explored in the earlier seasons.
Like I said, I don't necessarily need answers like this video suggests. In fact, I would have been happy with a really open-ended, messy, ambiguous ending! But instead we got a streamlined, sentimental, spiritual resolution that really left me feeling cold.
