Air New Zealand Debuts Middle Earth Themed Safety Video
I've listened to my share of airline safety videos, as the middle child of an Air Force man, hopping from duty station to duty station. Seat cushions used as flotation devices, put on your mask before helping toddlers put theirs on, etc, etc...
Forty years later, many airlines have moved over to short films to cover the safety ground, freeing up the flight attendants to gesture to the exits, batten down the hatches and check the overhead storage bins. Some of these videos have a bit of cheese factor to them, while others are slick and well produced. Regardless, many travelers often ignore them.
I have a feeling Air New Zealand travelers will paying a lot more happy attention as they are reintroduced to the exits. The down under airline has partnered with WETA Workshop, the folks who put together the special effects for the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, to create a Middle Earth themed safety video.
The video has a number of surprises in it, including cameos by LOTR producer Sir Peter Jackson and Gollum.
As part of a campaign to introduce the fun video, Air New Zealand has launched a contest to win airfare to New Zealand and one of six double passes to the World Premier screening of Jackson's upcoming prequel of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on the 28th of November.
Watch up, so you can answer all of the questions, then visit the site at the end of the video, for your chance to be the first to enjoy the prequel.
