Bambi by a Nose! Family of Deer Take Over Racetrack
Spectators at the Meadows Racetrack in Washington, Pennsylvania got a little more racing time to enjoy than they paid for on Wednesday, as a family of deer lost their way and wound up on the track.
The racetrack, typically used for harness races, suspended its race lineup while the three deer ran up and down the oval dirt track, skittishly looking for a way out. The mix-up was recorded on the Meadows' broadcasting system.
Not to be left out of the entertainment, race announcer Roger Huston began to chime in, real time, as the deer even considered entering the paddock, where the race horses are kept between races.
Eventually, the deer found the exit and nature returned to its normal course. According to Huston, Bambi won it... by a nose.
