David Mamet approached Funny or Die out of the blue, asking to make a film for the site. The resulting short, "Lost Masterpieces of Pornography," is very funny and very much unlike anything else Mr. Mamet has directed to date. (Also, given the title and the talent involved, it's surprisingly safe-for-work, more or less.)

Starring Kristen Bell, Ed O'Neill, and Ricky Jay, the film digs up a "lost" pornographic classic from the 1930s titled "June Crenshaw: Sex Kitten to the Supreme Court." It's about as silly as the premise sounds.

"Lost Masterpieces" was shot on honest-to-goodness 16mm film by cinematographer Robert Elswit (There Will Be Blood). There's a remarkable attention to detail in the sound design, too.

It's a surprising little collaboration. And, according to FOD President of Production David Farah, it may not be the last.
