The SyFy Channel and YouTube-only channel Machinima Prime have launched the latest prequel reboot of Battlestar Galactica, bringing viewers way, way back into the early origins of the Galactica universe, before the 1978 TV series, and even before the very popular but cut short re-imagining that ran beginning in 2004.

Blood and Chrome, viewable only on YouTube, begins with a short review of the robot rebellion and ensuing mass destruction ten years previously, as told by young Ensign William Adama, fresh out of the Academy, long before he becomes the man who will one day command the ragtag fleet in Battlestar Galactica's space diaspora.

Think the series being on YouTube has lowered its production factor? Think again. As Adama takes his first real duty assignment onboard the Galactica, the incredible cgi is coupled with real scenery in the same seamless fashion we've come to expect from the franchise.

I won't spoil anything, so what are you waiting for? Give it a watch and tell me what you think in the comments!
