Movie Trailer: The Adjustment Bureau
I've got mixed feelings about this trailer for the upcoming Matt Damon vehicle The Adjustment Bureau. First, it's got Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, it's loosely based on a Philip K. Dick story, and director George Nolfi is the guy responsible for the Ocean's Twelve screenplay. These are good things!
But then the trailer kinda has a weird Dark City/The Matrix vibe going on (which the folks over at /Film noticed too) and the whole plot seems a little, I don't know hackneyed?
And, really, Nolfi may have penned Ocean's Twelve, but those movies really succeed because of Steven Soderbergh's pitch-perfect direction (and casting). The plots were a bit of an incomprehensible (but fun!) mess, right?
The most striking aspect, however, is the wardrobe. I think this is supposed to be a contemporary setting, but everyone has this whole retro suit-and-fedora vibe going on. Not that I'm complaining though! The costume design is fabulous. Super sartorial!
And here I am at the end of the post and I haven't said a word yet about the plot of the damn thing. Well, it doesn't matter, because I'm pretty sure the trailer gives the whole thing away anyway. Watch it!
