Movie Trailer: The Green Hornet

I've been skeptical about Michel Gondry's adaptation of The Green Hornet featuring Seth Rogen as the titular hero, but this trailer as assuaged some of my fears. It looks fun! And there are explosions! Real ones, too, not the CGI crap that has some to dominate modern action films. So that's a good thing.

It's more or less a total re-imagining of the character and, as such, fans of the original may be mildly disappointed, but as a standalone picture it looks like it might be a real hoot. I am fairly ambivalent about both Gondry and Rogen—both have made some good movies and some bad movies—but I have a fair amount of faith in this project.

I am curious though that the trailer, for better or worse, seems devoid of much of Gondry's typical style. I'll be interested to see how much of his personal stamp ends up on the final picture and how much the studio has played a role in shaping the aesthetics of the project.
