Music Video: Liars, "Scissor"
Liars have had one of the more exciting musical careers of of the Naughties. Part of the early decade's dancepunk trend (though they leaned heavier, at least in attitude, toward the punk end of the spectrum), they evolved into one of the most engaging art-rock bands of the decade.
They're gearing up to release their new album Sisterworld, another step in the band's sonic evolution. Though not without ample traces of their abrasive sound, this new album finds Liars moving into more melodic territory. This is really evident with "Scissor," the new single (and lead-off track) from Sisterworld.
This video features frontman Angus Andrew floating in a raft in the middle of the ocean. As he drifts hopelessly, his vessel starts filling up with rocks, the removal of which becomes a Sisyphean task. I won't spoil the rest of the video, but suffice to say, things escalate from there.
