This video for "Your Hands (Together)," the first single from Together, the latest album of crunchy power pop from Canadian supergroup The New Pornographers, features Vancouver's Hybrid Movement performing an elaborate, karate-inspired dance routine.
No, choreographed martial arts performances are not the first thing that come to mind when I think of The New Pornographers (or Canada, for that matter), but it's sort of a goofy, surreal fit for the bouncy pop tune.
The song isn't too shabby either. Coming off their last album full of slow-burners, it's nice to see the band come out of the gate this time around with a big, anthemic pop hit. Smart move, guys.
