Mustached Americans Unite for Tax Breaks and Social Goodness using Social Media
With President Obama’s announcement that he wants to reform the tax code, it’s only appropriate that as we move into tax season, other important changes to the Code are introduced for simultaneous consideration.
None may be more important than the joint effort pursued by the American Mustache Institute (AMI) in partnership with H&R Block in support of the STACHE Act. This is democracy at its finest.
Using social media as their primary channel, Institute members are asking for tax relief for the expense they incur to ensure the American population’s aesthetic appreciation of all things facial hair. It’s only a $250 deduction they’re requesting and, as they so correctly point out, they have been making this investment in time and money for years – decades – generations – so it’s only fair that there is some form of acknowledgement and restitution by the Government for their actions in support of the betterment of the country.
Where does H&R Block come into this? The easy answer is that as the nation’s largest single provider of income tax services, their participation is a no-brainer. After all, there will be more tax returns with the possibility of that $250 deduction handled by H&R Block than by any other tax service.
What’s most important is that H&R Block has committed to making a donation to Millions from One, which delivers clean water to those who can’t access it, for every person who participates in person, on the website or on H&R Block’s Facebook page.
That makes it well worth your time to visit the Stache Act website or the H&R Block Facebook page and play with their mustache app as well as joining – in person or online – in their Million Mustache March on April 1st. And everybody should.
This is a fun and smart use of social media. Best of all, it’s doing good – so kudos to everyone involved.
