Poop Joke Plagiarism Case Asks: Which One is Funnier?
Last week I posted a video, as I do quite often, that was a comedy piece posted on Funny or Die that was about a fake Google Application that took your shit for you when you were too busy to. Unbeknown to me, this was pretty much a conceptual rip-off of another video also posted on the site called "Restxpress."
Also posted on the site is this response, a side-by-side comparison of the two videos posted by the folks behind "Restxpress," which was posted six months before the video in question, "Google Shit."
So, after some momentary deliberation I decided to post both videos here for you to decide, not which one came first, or if "Google Shit" is indeed a direct rip-off of "Restxpress," but which one is funnier. Because in the end, isn't that all that matters? Which one makes us laugh more? I mean, over the years many ideas have been regurgitated over and over, sometimes to better results. In this case they have a direct connection (one of the comedians behind the "Google Shit" video was on a creative team with the "Restxpress" folks), so that probably states the case more for plagiarism (even though that person wasn't around for conception, just production,) but that's their problem. Mine is only which one is funnier. You tell me in the comments.
