Thankful for Homer
In all my years in Alaska, there was one place that came to mind when I was asked what my favorite city was. That city was Homer. It still is, as a matter of fact.
Located at the far southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula, Homer has it all. It's just big enough to have the modern amenities and access to shops and arts of a "big" city, but small enough to truly feel like a community. Oh, and the beauty is incredible year round.

Homer is actually the home base for the Time Bandit which is one of the stars of Deadliest Catch (http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/deadliest-catch/) and is also world famous with those who like to reel in the REALLY big fish.

I shot this blog during Thanksgiving of 2009. It was the first winter edition of my www.GoToAK.com video blog for KTUU TV in Anchorage, but since winter is coming to an end, even in Alaska, let's use it as our exit from the chilly season and look for less frostier installments in the future. Deal?
Are you ready for a 12 course meal followed by a snowshoe trip around Kachemack bay? Let's dig in!
Tune into part two where we'll check out a winery, yes a WINERY, in Alaska and dig into a meal that will make even the most discriminating shell fish lover blush.
Until we rub noses again!
