"By resolution 836(IX) of 14 December 1954, the General Assembly recommends that all countries institute a Universal Children's Day, to be observed as a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children. It recommends that the Day be observed also as a day of activity devoted to promoting the ideals and objectives of the Charter and the welfare of the children of the world."

November 20th is the United Nations Universal Children's Day. The health and welfare of children around the globe continue to be a concern, as hunger, malnutrition, dirty water and the lack of vaccines to protect against disease continue to remove one child every three seconds for our lives.

In commemoration of the event, and to drive the tragic losses home, the boy's choir Wuppertaler Kurrende put together this almost haunting video of their slowly dampened rendition of Tears For Fears' "Mad World".

While the UN's International Children's Fund does what it can to help those children in need, (especially in Africa), the Fund's continued need is great.

Donations continue to be accepted to help stop the world from needlessly losing so many children every year.
