Video: Memphis Grizzlies' Rudy Gay Not Excellent With Clock Management
Anyone who plays basketball loves the opportunity to make a desperation shot as time expires. The rare chances that heaves from halfcourt go down as the buzzer sounds provide some of the best moments in sports.
As time wore down in the first quarter of Tuesday's Lakers-Grizzlies game, Rudy Gay had that moment, getting the ball with seconds left in the quarter and heaving the ball from halfcourt. The only problem was there were still about eight seconds to go when he shot it, so the Lakers got the rebound and quickly pushed the ball up for a Kobe Bryant buzzer-beater that tied the game going into he second.
Luckily for Gay, the Grizzlies still won the game, making it easier to have a good sense of humor about it.
