23-year-old Delhi Gang Rape Victim Dies at Hospital in Singapore
The medical student who was gang raped and then beaten in a moving public bus has passed away at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. The girl breath her last at 4.45 am Singapore Standard Time. Her family members and Indian embassy officials were present by her side.
The student was gang-raped on night of 16 December by six men in a running bus. The Girl was hit on head with an iron rod. She was thrown from the bus with her clothes taken of. Also her friend was beaten an thrown along with her.
In a Statement Kelvin Loh, the chief executive of Mount Elizabeth Hospital said, "The girl was very courageous in fighting for her life for so long but the trauma to her body was too severe for her to overcome. A team of eight specialist doctors were trying their best to keep her condition stable, but her health was down to a low level for past couple of days."
"Due to serious injuries on her body the vital organs of the victim had failed and stopped their working." - said Kevin Loh.
Immediately after her passing, news of her death reached rapidly allover India via Media and social network. Many personalities expressed their condolence for the girl. They also criticized the government for still not making strict laws for the crimes which are being committed against women.
The 23-year-old girl is from Ballia district in state of Uttar Pradesh. Her parents had to sell the little piece of land which they owned for their daughter's medical study fees. it's being said that since then the family meals have changed to only "Bread and Salt."
After her death news Police is on high Alert in the National Capital. Many roads have been been closed following the violent protest which the county witnessed few days before. Also many metro stations have been shut to prevent crowding of people.
