Tutoring can obtain better results for teaching young students than classroom teaching can. This is not to undermine the qualities of classroom teachers because teachers are submitted to requirements that are restrictive. With a large classroom size, it's challenging for a classroom teacher to efficiently instruct each and every student. Teachers who have taught large numbers of students in the classroom have found a number of problems associated with teaching these large numbers.

There are a number of instructional techniques that a tutor can use with an individual student that a teacher cannot apply in a classroom environment, here are a few:

1. Individualizing Lessons

With one pupil or with just a few students, a teacher or tutor is able to give targeted instruction to the student or students. When the number of students increase, however, less time can be spent with each individual student.
With big classroom sizes where the teacher is alone to instruct, individual schooling is extremely difficult to provide, if any at all. With individual training, however, the classroom no longer becomes a factor and the pupil is given all the attention. With greater instructional attention given to the student, the student profits from instruction that is geared entirely to him or her.

2. Reinforcement and Rewards

Many studies have been carried out with both humans and animals which have substantiated how vital a reward system is for modifying and changing behavior. Rewards are significant to modifying behavior in both adults and children, and rewards or reinforcement is utilized in our everyday lives to have us perform the way others want us to. As a result, it's important to provide significant rewards to children for their academic performance, and one on one tutoring makes rewarding a lot easier than having to dispense sufficient rewards to a large number of students at one time.
