Here are the raw facts about the recent extraordinary spate of anti-abortion legislation in states across the country:

1) They seek to make surgical and non-surgical abortions at all stages of pregnancy more difficult to obtain.
2) They come at the same time as cuts to WIC, Medicaid, food stamps, TANF, and other supports to women with children, largely supported by the same people who support the anti-abortion laws.
3) Major cuts to family planning and women's health care services were considered an acceptable by-blow of the new anti-abortion laws.

We can draw only one conclusion from this: Anti abortion advocates do not seek to 'save' fetuses or make life better for impoverished women with children, as evidenced by the strong negative affect on women's and children's health and lives that the anti-abortion laws and cuts to family supports have.

The primary motive for anti-abortion laws can no longer be disguised. Anti-abortion laws serve to control women and reduce them to receptacles for fetuses. They represent hatred of female autonomy and control over their own sexuality.

(Warning: Here it gets graphic)

You cannot claim to be 'pro-life' if you want laws passed that will require a 14 year old who is raped by her father to ask his permission to get an abortion.

You cannot claim to be 'pro-life' if you think it's better to let a dead fetus rot inside a woman and possibly kill her than remove it as it is dying, before it gets to that point.

You cannot claim to be 'pro-life' you support the arrest of a woman who miscarries after a suicide attempt due to severe clinical depression and distress while pregnant rather than sympathy.

You cannot claim to be 'pro-life' if rather than trying to help an addicted pregnant woman who miscarries, you have her arrested for foeticide.
