Casey Anthony Not Guilty of First Degree Murder
Along with most of the country, I am sitting here shocked to hear a "not guilty" verdict.
A Florida jury just found Casey Anthony not guilty of murder in the June 16, 2008 death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie Anthony.
Breakdown of charges:
Casey Anthony has been found not guilty of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony. The jury did not convict Casey of either first degree murder or manslaughter. They found Casey Anthony guilty on four counts of providing false information to law enforcement.
Casey Anthony sobbed as the verdict was read as she held the hand of her attorney, Baez. The remainder of her defense team stood beside Casey, also holding hands.
Parents Cindy and George Anthony swiftly left the courtroom as Judge Belvin Perry read further instructions to the jury. They did not join their daughter in the courtroom.
The jury of 7 women and 5 men returned the verdict after more than 10 hours of deliberation. Sentencing on the guilty counts will be held on 9 a.m. Thursday.
