Change So Subtle, You'd Never Notice it to Believe In!
The gubernatorial elections are a week away. I'm thankful for that!
The atrocious candidates, their intrusive ads and unsolicited phone calls will disappear, at least until the next election. As I ponder how I should use my vote, I can't help thinking about "Change You Can Believe In" - the big Obama slogan that burned Hillary and paved his way to the White House. I recall a lot of promises, and still don’t see any "Good Change" for the American people.
One of Obama's platforms was securing the internet. Hiring a couple of consultants (one already resigned) to come up with a plan that actually protects our infrastructure. Ignoring the exorbitant hemorrhage of $20,000,000 last quarter of 2009 via the internet doesn’t sound very helpful. We all pay for this sort of thing in higher costs of goods, services, and merchandise. Anyone that spends time "surfing the net" knows it's become like a prison with the cell doors opened. Tied up on the catwalk, the world rendered helpless amidst countless felons stealing your hard-earned money.
When I look back to the early nineties it always brings a smile to my face. The internet was peaceful and you could research in peace. I want the peaceful internet back!! Here's a change that could work and bring peace and security. Categorize websites. If it's porn you're after then go to .sex, shopping then .com, education at .edu, and so on. Every crazy niche the world has to offer residing in the appropriate domain. No one would ever have to look at anything they found offensive again.
The real bonuses of implementing countrywide security is stopping spammers & thieves. I am in no way promoting censorship, I'm promoting organization. A system of cataloging and locating websites on domains relevant to what you are looking for. Instead of the current pay for advertising system that leads to anywhere except the place you want to be. Sorry ad guys, you'll have to specialize in targeting your markets domain specific.
It is my conclusion the US has plenty of backbone to make this happen, yet the current government would rather tax average Americans back to the "Stone Age." Secure the internet and save the people from needless taxation! Please spare our children from generations of perpetual debt.
