I'm a jeans and t-shirt Mom
It's that time of the year when all the women's magazines are showing the spring and summer fashions. When I sit in a doctor's office or walk through the library, I see all the adorable outfits and stories about fashionable moms who keep it all together all the time.
I'm not one of those moms, and I'm okay with that. I'm the mom wearing jeans and a t-shirt/turtleneck in the cold weather and jean shorts and a t-shirt when it's warm. It's not that I don't have nice clothing or that I don't wear it on occasion. It's just that those adorable, fashionable outfits don't work in my daily life.
We have six year old twins. I spend my time during the day between working at home with them playing in another room and running them to different activities. Except for a few months of the year, I spend a lot of time outside working in our gardens. You won't be surprised to find that I'm not the kind of gardener with the cute, matching gardening clothes. I'm the kind of gardener who has dirty knees and wipes her hands on her t-shirt as she's running in to get a snack for the girls. Yes, I do wash my hands before touching any food, but there are times that I don't even want to touch the door unless I wipe my hands.
While I admire other moms' ability to always have cute, matching outfits, I no longer aspire to be that mom. I'm a jeans and t-shirt mom and it's just fine.
