Dating Website Dumps 30,000 Members For Not Being Beautiful - Page 2
An uproar occurred when the powers that be then unceremoniously dumped all of those 30,000 new members with a “Dear John” letter that basically said, “It’s not me, it’s you. Sorry.” It has to be difficult to be assured that you are beautiful one day and the next day you discover that apparently you just fell out of the ugly tree. And you didn’t even know it.
Not only has it cost the website about $100,000 in returned membership fees, but a helpline has been set up with counselors available to help the stressed rejects. Not a stranger to controversy, this site was also responsible for booting about 5,000 members off shortly after the Christmas holidays when it appeared that they might have gained weight.
It’s been a long time since I was in the dating scene, but if I am ever back out in the field, I certainly hope there might be a dating site or two that specializes in mediocre looking middle aged folks. And if not, I guess there is always photoshop. Because after all, nobody is ugly on the internet.
