Dominique Strauss Kahn – Another Clinton Affair?
Was what happened on the 14th of May in New York a case of something going wrong with Dominique Strauss Kahn’s charm offensive?
Judging from the news report coming out of the French media quoting American sources it looks like it has more to it than a nasty shenanigan of a Presidential candidate.
The French press is closely following the affair as seen from this dedicated section of Le Nouvel Observateur.

As someone who lived in Paris for a long time and worked with the French half my life I can’t believe, like a large section of the French at large, that it was simply a case of sexual attack as is being reported. It is baffling!
Why should a millionaire politician and President of the IMF, who is being touted as the most likely candidate with the potential to usurp the incumbent President Zarkozy and the French Left from power, commit such a serious error of judgment?
Despite accusations of past demeanor, never pressed on and reported so seriously by the French media, when they actually took place years before are being resurrected by the political opposition it is difficult to believe that Dominique Strauss Kahn would have acted in anything but a typical French way if he had to seduce someone.
As far as I know the French, what is being reported, is not the French way.
The details of the encounter and the contradictions of the case are quoted by Le Nouvel Observateur.
It looks like there are several contradictions concerning the timing of the events; behavior of Dominique Strauss Kahn, the manner in which he checked out and later proceeded to the airport, a lunch he had with his daughter after the check out and before his arrival at the airport and the test results of the DNA examination etc.
However the main source of a detailed account of the period of time between the alleged attack and the arrest of the IMF President is an American news journal.
Based on this report from I watch News, the accusation is not of rape in a classic way but of a type of act a US President was accused of and later admitted as consensually carried out, in the recent past.
The question is while an act like rape needs to be carried out by shear force to overcome any resistance, can the type of act Dominique Strauss Kahn is being accused of be carried out without the consent of the victim?
