Family-Friendly Online Organizer Released on Windows Azure
Moms and caregivers looking for a new computer or a windows upgrade ought to consider Windows Azure, since the new platform also has the beta version of family-oriented online organizer AboutOne.
AboutOne is the one-and-only online family organizer that's meant to help moms, caregivers, and military families get their lives together and keep all that household information in one place. Microsoft will feature the family organizer as a startup of the day on Bizspark. CEO and Founder Joanne Lang had an idea for such an organizer for several years, until an incident with her son pushed her to turn that idea into action.
"My second boy has asthma, and I got a call from the doctors. He was in an ambulance and they need info about his medications," she said. "I couldn't get to that info because it was at home. I felt like a failure. It was a big kick to go and do something."
This new beta version of AboutOne is the product of the company’s partnership with Microsoft and incorporates a year’s worth of customer feedback. One of the new features that comes from this feedback is the family calendar, which will sync with an existing calendar app and generate alerts to remind you of upcoming events and important days.

Fortunately, Lang's son is okay, and AboutOne solves the pain point of being unable to access valuable information on a moment's notice. Just scan those records, whether it's health, financial, education, or the mortgage, into the system to be able to pull it up whenever it's needed. It also links these items to family members, other contacts, and calendar events, providing powerful search functions for instant access to details about people, places, paperwork, and events. Users can also scan in and include memories, such as photos, drawings, and video.
