Google enters the Fashion World with Boutiques.com

You might not think of Google, one of the largest technology companies in the world, and fashion as having anything to do with each other. Yet today, Google launched a new site, Boutiques.com, a personalized shopping experience that lets you discover fashion based on your own tastes.
If you worry about online privacy and data collection, you might pause before using Boutiques.com, but I think that most women will be happy to jump right in. According to Google, "Boutiques uses computer vision and machine learning technology to visually analyze your taste and match it to items you would like".
The site consists of a collections of boutiques curated by celebrities, stylists, designers and fashion bloggers. You can then search by any of these, or by trend, genre or what is popular and you can curate a boutique of your own. Advanced search filters were also added, such as silhouette, pattern, color families and sizes for you to further narrow down your search.
Other great features of Boutiques are:
- Photos of matching outfit ideas
- Style rules on completing the look
- Visual search for visually similar items
